LED bulbs another energy and money saver.

While I'm on the subject of light bulbs (see the CFB entry), there is another energy saving bulb out there.  The LED or Light Emitting Diode bulbs can save you a bundle in cash while saving energy and helping the world.  The most popular LED bulbs lately seem to be Holiday lights...since the color of the light can be changed easily.  These allow for some great displays.  They run on such small amounts of power...there are many solar powered products with LED lights.  Solar power is FREE!

The energy consumption is quite low and the temperature of the light is much cooler than a standard bulb.  The LED bulb also emits a much more 'natural' light closer to daylight.  This makes it easier on the eyes.  Recently...many companies are starting to put the white LEDs into table lamps and even into bulbs that will fit into just about anything.  This is a much better alternative to Halogen lights as well.  Halogen burn way too hot and use a ton of power.

I find that the LED lights are great for your desk and for flashlights.  They also have a high life expectancy too...which will save you money in the long-run.  LEDs are very 'directional' as well...meaning that they don't tend to 'fill the room' with light (unless they are designed to).  So if you have a small reading light, you might not disturb your roommate.

These are my 2nd favorite types of bulbs.  I have 3 in my home already.  Make the switch and start saving.
