Walmart Neighborhood Market is tops.

Well, it's been a crazy 2008.  Prices at the Grocery store have been all over the place.  In my research, Target seemed to be the lowest cost for most everyday items.  Well, a few months ago...we had a Walmart Neighborhood Market open in the area.  If you are not familiar with these stores...think of a Walmart Supercenter...with just the grocery side (and H&B products).  They have a full deli and bakery as well.  The store is clean and looks more 'upscale' than their typical Walmart.  It's actually nice to shop there if it's not too busy.

I was SHOCKED to find that most of the products were almost 50% less than Publix on many items.  I've now decided that Walmart Neighborhood Market is the overall winner for 2008.  Not only do they have the lowest prices...but they take COUPONS!  Yes...Walmart takes manufactures coupons.

My advice would be to still watch your local inserts for sales at your Grocery store.  If they offer a 'buy-one-get-one-free' sale, you should stock up.  Walmart never seems to offer these types of sales.  Also, while Walmart Neighborhood's deli is nice...Publix still has them beat with selection an a leg up on quality.  You might want to spend a few more bucks for a slightly better product.  But that is according to taste.  Don't forget that Super Target's Deli can 'hold it's own' against the Grocery Stores too.

Another area you may want to take a side trip to your local Grocery Store is produce.  It seemed that Walmart Neighborhood's selection was not as large.  They didn't have some everyday items...and some of the more exotic items were also void from the store.

My overall advice is to stick to Target and Walmart Neighborhood for your weekly shopping and to hit Publix/Local Grocery Stores for that 'special' occasion and produce.
